Santa Barbara, CA.

Today the Capps campaign is proud to announce the unanimous support from the Santa Barbara County Firefighters Association, Local 2046. Established in 1971, the association protects the rights and working conditions of its members who are highly trained for any emergency including fire, medical, rescue, and hazardous materials incidents. The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is a multi-mission, all-risk public safety agency that maximizes the services provided to the community by cross-training firefighters and operating specialized programs out of crucial locations.

If elected, Capps is committed to being a champion of public safety and will work to prepare Santa Barbara for extreme weather events. She served as President of the Community Environmental Council and has a background in environmental policy. As a board member, Capps has led the Santa Barbara Unified School District in transitioning away from fossil fuels and turning school campuses into microgrids that serve as safe havens in the time of emergencies.

Bryan Fernandez, President of the Santa Barbara County Firefighters Association, issued the following statement:

"Your Santa Barbara county firefighters enthusiastically support Laura Capps for 2nd District County supervisor. Laura understands the rapidly changing fire environment that now challenges us on a year-round basis in addition to the full range of emergency services we provide every day. We know we will be able to count on her strong support for your fire and emergency medical services.”
